I have been a teacher for 25 years.
That’s a long time. You may well say I’ve never really left school, and you would be right. I love learning—you can never learn enough, and you should never stop. Hand-in-hand with learning is challenge and change. These three things have brought me here.
I’ve learned a lot just setting up this website. It has certainly been challenging—it took me over two hours to figure out how to add ‘the button’ to the bottom of each page. I didn’t give up though because this whole venture represents a much needed change.
I thrive on change and on being challenged—and I NEVER give up until something is perfect.
You may also be wondering why I have a rather raggy looking stuffed dog as my featured image on this page. His name is Fi and he represents my two children. They were the inspiration behind this new venture; it all started with the realisation I needed to be home more for them and it blossomed into a reignited love affair with writing and fixing other people’s mistakes (i.e. editing).
My journey over the last few years has been straightforward. I reduced my teaching hours, enrolled in a Writing for Children course, completed a Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing, started a novel, got a few stories and articles published, and volunteered to proofread our school reports.
The whole time I was doing this, a little voice in the back of my mind kept urging, “Do something with this—it’s time.”
So now I am.
I am really good at this editing gig! I love it.
